In 2016, Zerlene Rogers, celebrity hairstylist answered a call to action by founding a non-profit organization called, Zerlene Rogers Beauty & Brains to impact the lives of young girls in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area. Since then she has continued the mission to impact the lives of junior high and high school aged girls at one of the most impressionable times in their lives. It is no secret that teen girls are faced with a variety of challenges and while some are equipped with the skills to overcome, others need support. Beauty & Brains is that support. Zerlene Rogers and a team of professional women share a commitment to these young ladies. The Beauty & Brains mission is to uplift, support, and empower young ladies to appreciate their inner beauty. We want each young lady we encounter to understand that true beauty does not reside in the external, but the internal. At Beauty & Brains we want to reiterate that intelligence and cultural competence is essential to being a beautiful, well adjusted, and productive person. Beauty & Brains tours schools across the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas metroplex to share the mission with young ladies. We promote our Annual Beauty & Brains Scholarship Brunch and Essay Contest. The girls write an essay detailing what beauty and brains means to them. The rationale behind the essay topic is to provoke thought and a dialogue about the correlation between their beauty and brains. Winners are announced at our Annual Beauty & Brains Brunch in August. Our Annual Brunch features influential female speakers from diverse backgrounds and career paths, a delicious catered menu, entertainment, photo opportunities, and goody bags provided by our sponsors. Beauty & Brains participants are able to attend this informative celebration at no cost to them. We are committed to providing a memorable experience at our Annual Brunch! Our commitment doesn't stop there. We have enrichment programs such as yoga, painting, and cooking throughout the year that the young ladies of Beauty and Brains take advantage of. We are dedicated to serving our community of young ladies!
